METRO CRIME STATISTICS WEB SITE
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) crime mapping program, which can be found at http://www.lvmpd.com/crimeviewcommunity/, provides public access to crime information for LVMPD's jurisdiction only. This site allows you to view crime data by choosing basic crime types in proximity to an address, intersection, school, or other geographic points and areas of interest for a period of one to 60 days. You can print summary reports and maps using this data. The program is under development and may not be available at all times in the near future. The mapping database contains 60 days of information. This crime data is preliminary information given to the LVMPD by the public and has not been verified. Future investigation and analysis may change crime classification and other information. Accurate statistical crime information for comparison over periods of time is best obtained using the verified periodic Uniform Crime Reports located on other pages of the Web site.

SEX OFFENDER REGISTRATION INFORMATION
In order to maintain awareness of sex offenders living in your neighborhood, Sheriff Doug Gillespie and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department have added a Sex Offender Registry to their Web site. The registry will allow you to enter any local address. It will then provide a list of all registered Clark County sex offenders living within a one-mile radius of that location within the boundaries of Clark County. If you are looking for information about a particular sex offender, registered in Clark County, the registry can help there as well. Currently, the law only requires residents in a one-mile radius to be notified only if a Tier III sex offender who is on parole or probation to be notified. You may not be aware if there is a Tier III offender in your neighborhood, if they are not on parole or probation.

Only 33 percent of the registered sex offenders in this database are available for viewing by the public. Nevada Revised Statues state that only information on Tier III and Tier II sex offenders can be made available at this time. There are other Web sites that also notify residents, but the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is encouraging you to take advantage of the free e-mail notification. When a sex offender registers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department you will be alerted if the offender’s address is:

1. In Clark County, and
2. Within one mile of the address you have entered on your subscription.
